We make human-grade pet food, tailored for each dog's nutritional needs, and deliver directly to our customers' doors. Through Ollie's carefully crafted meals and health services for members, dogs can truly live their healthiest, happiest lives.

As a member of our growing team, you'll take part in a company culture that cares deeply about its work and its team members.

As part of our strategic vision to revolutionize pet health through data-driven insights, we are undertaking a comprehensive initiative to modernize our Machine Learning infrastructure. This transformative eCommerce effort involves migrating our ML pipelines from an AWS-based architecture to a Snowflake-centric stack, enabling closer integration with our broader Data Platform. By leveraging the power of Snowflake and its ecosystem, we aim to enhance our predictive modeling capabilities, streamline our feature engineering workflows, and unlock novel opportunities for innovation at the intersection of nutrition, diagnostics, and proactive care for our canine companions.

To lead this critical initiative, we are seeking a Sr. Machine Learning Ops Engineer to join our Digital team. In this role, you will spearhead the end-to-end transition of our ML pipelines, ensuring seamless integration with our existing data infrastructure, and establishing a foundation for future advancements in our ML capabilities.

This role will report to our Data Platform Lead and can be based remotely in the NE USA only

(Washington DC to Portland, ME, including Greater NYC).

What You'll Do:
    • Oversee the end-to-end execution of the ML infrastructure modernization project, ensuring best practices in data governance, model performance, and operational efficiency
    • Train and refine existing diagnostic models to improve accuracy, optimize performance, and ensure seamless integration with our larger Data Platform
    • Assess our current ML architecture and design a phased migration plan to transition to a Snowflake and dbt-compatible stack
    • Evaluate and integrate tools and technologies for the future state architecture, such as Snowpark-optimized clusters, cloud notebook solutions like Hex, and ML feature stores
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including the Food Science, Analytics, Product, and Operations teams to ensure ML solutions are aligned with business objectives and seamlessly integrated into production workflows
    • Drive the adoption of MLOps best practices, such as model versioning, monitoring, and continuous integration/deployment, and contribute to advancing our core competencies in this domain

Who You Are:
    • 5+ years of experience in applied Machine Learning Engineering and MLOps
    • Expertise in AWS Sagemaker, Snowflake, dbt, and related modern data stack technologies, with proven experience optimizing production ML pipelines that use these tools
    • Strong technical skills in Python, SQL, data modeling, ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), and DevOps practices for ML
    • Ability to lead technical projects, break down complex problems, and drive them to completion while navigating ambiguity
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to diverse audiences and drive alignment across teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Continuous improvement mindset, always looking to optimize processes and adopt new technologies and best practices
    • Passion for mentoring and nurturing talent in data science and engineering
    • Genuine interest in leveraging ML to improve pet health outcomes and transform the pet food industry
    • This is not a checklist, so if you don't have all of these, apply anyway!

What You'll Get:
    • Competitive salary and a stake in the company
    • Sponsored 401k program with employer match up to 4%
    • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental and vision
    • Unlimited vacation policy that you're encouraged to use
    • Paid parental leave
