We are currently seeking candidates in the NE Corridor area only (Washington DC to Portland, ME, including Greater NYC).

As the Front End Tech Lead at Ollie, you will be responsible for the front-end ecosystem powering Ollie's direct-to-consumer e-commerce subscription platform.

This position is great for you if you are curious, collaborative, and open-minded, have experience with an e-commerce (and ideally subscription) business, and are interested in both technical topics as well as the space overall. We're hiring a strong, diverse team across a range of skill levels, experiences, & interests to help deliver Ollie to dog bowls everywhere!

What You'll Do:
    • Lead a dynamic Web team to enhance the technical direction of the business, building on top of our Next.js+React ecommerce platform, headless CMS integration, and Fetch design system, and innovate in the large and growing pet health space while improving the lives of dogs everywhere
    • Collaborate with Product & Design to align on requirements and timelines, addressing technical feasibility while supporting business needs & goals
    • Coordinate cross-squad initiatives, providing technical requirements for APIs and supporting & validating implementation
    • Manage a team through to deployment to production, as well as supporting that team's growth alongside the business
    • Drive technical initiatives to address site performance, accessibility, and architectural issues maintain the health of Ollie's Web application

Who You Are:
    • You have 6+ years building web-based applications, utilizing technologies like REST APIs and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
    • You have 1+ years experience in lead position
    • You have strong working knowledge of Javascript, browsers, the lifecycle of the web, site performance, including CDNs and image optimization, and SEO and other marketing
    • You have experience with growth D2C ecommerce (and ideally subscription) businesses, leading technical initiatives from conception to deployment
    • You are interested in exploring various architectural approaches to solving a given problem with an eye for trade-offs between time, maintainability, & quality
    • You have a desire to mentor & support your team's growth, both in their technical knowledge as well as overall careers
    • You are focused on building beautiful & intuitive user experience with accessibility to users of varying abilities at the forefront
    • You have excellent communication & collaboration skills

Bonus Points For:
    • Being a dog owner or lover
    • Experience working with Node, express.js, and/or Next.js
    • Experience developing a design system, in coordination with Design team, using Storybook
    • Experience with any of the following libraries: react-hook-form, styled-components, swr, robot3 or xstate
    • Experience working with unit testing in JavaScript
    • Experience working with a headless CMSExperience working with Docker and/or AWS
    • History of maintaining large-scale applications
    • Open source contributor
